The Doctrine of Spirituality vs. Carnality
The Stream of Consciousness – Part 1
Who you are is who you are in your soul. Your soul is who you are, not your body. You have little control over the genetic structure of your body. You have great control over your soul. You have volition and freedom to make decisions. True happiness is not in what happens to the body; true happiness happens in the soul. God created your soul and imputed it to your body at the moment you were born, creating human life. The real you is who you are in your soul.
God has provided a system of learning Bible doctrine that is equal for all believers who want to know truth. This is why He provided the filling of the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation. The filling of the Holy Spirit is God the Holy Spirit controlling the soul. The filling of the Spirit takes human I.Q. with all its inequalities and converts it into spiritual I.Q. Spiritual I.Q. gives everyone the same equal opportunity for learning and applying Bible doctrine for the execution of the spiritual life.
The Holy Spirit teaches the human spirit, so that you have a system of perception that completely overcomes any handicaps, regardless of I.Q. The result is spiritual information being understood. It’s positive volition toward the teaching of Bible doctrine (academic doctrine) that causes a believer to metabolize Bible doctrine. Your positive volition and faith perception then permits God the Holy Spirit to transfer spiritual information to your soul as full spiritual knowledge (“epignosis” doctrine). The right lobe of your soul is called “the heart” in Scripture. Just as the physical heart circulates blood in the body, the right lobe of the soul circulates Bible doctrine in the stream of consciousness. The spiritual life is a system of thinking. That system of thinking is metabolized doctrine circulating in the stream of consciousness. The greatest thing that God ever gave us is the capability for thought and the capability of making decisions from that thought under spiritual freedom.
When there is failure to maintain the Bible doctrine you have learned because of negative volition or neglect, all the human viewpoint in your soul begins to destroy the doctrine you have learned in the past. Metabolized Bible doctrine circulating in the stream of consciousness creates a FLOT line in your soul. FLOT is a military acronym for “forward line of troops.” This is where you deploy the Ten Problem-Solving Devices, so that from the privacy of your own soul you can solve every problem in life. The Church Age believer must know when to use defensive action and when to use offensive action in the Christian life. Against Satan and all fallen angels, the divine commands usually call for defensive action. Offensive action related to the Angelic Conflict is related to the execution of the Protocol Plan of God for the Church. Submitting to God’s authority is part of your offensive action; standing your ground is your defensive action.
Offensive action is related to divine production, which means using the Problem-Solving Devices, your Portfolio of Invisible Assets, and the Protocol Plan of God to win the tactical victory. I Peter 5:5-9, “You younger believers, likewise, be subordinate to the authority of your elders [pastors]; clothe yourselves with humility toward each other because God makes war against the arrogant [believer] but He gives grace to the humble [believer]. Therefore, humble yourselves under the powerful hand of God, in order that He may promote you in the proper time, casting all your anxiety [cares, worry, fear] on Him because He cares for you. Attain spiritual self-esteem, be alert. Your enemy, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand your ground against him, strong in doctrine, because you know that your fellow-believers throughout the world are experiencing the same category of suffering.”
Ephesians 6:13,Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” The evil day is any type of demonic or satanic pressure on the believer from the strategies of the devil. The evil day is Satan attacking both the grace of God and the judicial decisions of God. The evil day is any time the believer’s defenses are weakened because of negative volition toward doctrine. The evil day is the breakdown of the defensive system provided by God through the rejection of Bible doctrine. The evil day is the temptations from the arrogance complex of sins which duplicate the original sin of Satan in the prehistoric Angelic Conflict. The evil day is the believer being overrun by the cosmic system.
Direct offensive action against the devil means defeat for the believer; as it is not mandated in the Scripture. All offensive action against Satan and fallen angels must occur as a result of defensive action mandated by God. Defensive action is based on the attainment of the three spiritual skills of the Christian Way of Life: the filling of the Holy Spirit, the cognition of Bible doctrine, and the execution of the Protocol Plan of God. Only metabolized doctrine circulating in the stream of consciousness is the basis for defensive action. Since the believer’s soul is the battleground, a perimeter defense is formed through the residence of Bible doctrine in the soul. We use a military term to describe this defense called the FLOT line of the soul. FLOT stands for forward line of troops. A believer’s FLOT line is the metabolized doctrine circulating through the seven compartments of the right lobe of the soul through the ministry of the filling of the Spirit.
A believer should not take offensive action by becoming involved in demon confrontation, exorcism, or activities related to demonism. Christian activism is an offensive action against the devil and is contradictory to the Protocol Plan of God. Christian activism is the quintessence of legalistic arrogance, causing the believer to become a loser as far as the execution of God’s plan is concerned.
A believer has no human power comparable to demonic power; therefore, the believer must utilize divine power, including the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. It is the power of the Word of God, the dynamics of Bible doctrine, which have the power and become the FLOT line for both offensive and defensive action in the Christian life. Only through understanding and inculcating Bible doctrine can a FLOT line be established in your life. Once you have established a FLOT line, it is the basis for defensive action against the devil and his demons, and it is the basis for offensive action against the people and circumstances of your life.(I Samuel 17:1-50)
Without the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit there is no spiritual life for the Church Age believer. The mentorship of the Holy Spirit includes the filling of the Holy Spirit, the teaching of the Spirit, the recall of doctrine and praying (interceding) for us. Without the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit there is no fulfillment of the basic principle of the Protocol Plan of God. The basic principle of the Protocol Plan of God is that a right thing must be done in a right way to be right.
Bible doctrine circulating in the stream of consciousness creates a mirror in the soul. This is where you make objective, accurate self-evaluation. You were designed by God to counsel yourself from metabolized doctrine circulating in your stream of consciousness. Counseling from others as a part of the spiritual life is totally unnecessary. Counseling is depending on someone else and you are supposed to be depending on the Word of God. The compartments of the stream of consciousness of the soul:
The Frame of Reference
The Frame of Reference is defined as the structure of the soul’s right lobe in which doctrine, principles, categories of Scripture are like pieces of a puzzle and are placed in their proper places to form the spiritual life of the Church Age. I Corinthians 2:9-10 describes the Frame of Reference, “But just as it stands written, `Things which the eye has not seen, and the ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of mankind, all that God has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things from God.” The heart is a metaphor for the right lobe of the soul. Just as the heart circulates blood, so the stream of consciousness circulates metabolized doctrine in the soul.
The Frame of Reference is the area for retention of metabolized doctrine. The Frame of Reference is where you have “the giant computer system” that puts information into its proper area and correlates it with doctrines you have previously learned. The Frame of Reference is where you establish all doctrine in relationship to its principles in relationship to all other doctrines pertinent to it. The Holy Spirit then sends doctrine to the Memory Center.
The Memory Center
While the Frame of Reference is the area of retention for metabolization of doctrine, the Memory Center is the area for recall. Doctrine is “printed” in the Frame of Reference and recalled from the Memory Center. The principle is that the rate of learning must always exceed the rate of forgetting. Therefore we have the importance of inculcation of Bible doctrine and repetition. When the rate of learning is greater than the rate of forgetting, the total quantity of metabolized doctrine increases both in your Frame of Reference and in your Memory Center. When the rate of forgetting is greater than the rate of learning, then the total quantity of metabolized doctrine decreases both in the Frame of Reference, Memory Center, and in circulation throughout the rest of your stream of consciousness. Therefore circulation of metabolized doctrine throughout the entire stream of consciousness decreases.
Retaining doctrine is a matter of balancing out the rate of learning and the rate of forgetting. You do not hear doctrine once and recall it when you need it.The Memory Center is destroyed by reversionism through scar tissue and black out of the soul.Recall is necessary for the creation of the mirror in your soul and for the establishing of the FLOT line of the soul. Recall is necessary for the deployment of Problem-Solving Devices on the FLOT line of the soul so that they are ready for action. Recall is necessary for the function of the “spiritual reflexes.” Spiritual reflex is a system which takes the principles which you have learned from Bible doctrine and uses them on an instantaneous basis. In an instant of time you can come up with the right principle, the right answer, the right concept, and the right decision.
The Memory Center is the circulation link between the Frame of Reference and the other five compartments of the stream of consciousness. (Lamentations 3:20-23; Psalm 119:6, “I delight in doctrine; I will not forget Your word.” I Corinthians 11:24, “And when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, `This represents My body, which is a substitute for you; keep on doing this in remembrance of Me.’” You have your own treasury of Bible doctrine circulating in your stream of consciousness. This is a treasury which cannot be destroyed.
Vocabulary Storage
You can never think beyond your vocabulary. The vocabulary of Bible doctrine is of utmost importance. Vocabulary is a system of memory. One word means a great many things and causes the function of the right answers at the right times in the right situations. Only when Bible doctrine is circulating in the stream of consciousness through the teaching ministry of God the Holy Spirit as you are filled with the Spirit do you have the power of the Word of God for instant use in your life. If your soul is not filled with doctrine, it is filled with human viewpoint.
Vocabulary storage is a dictionary of a believer’s soul. It is the location of all technical theological nomenclature, biblical metaphors, teaching acronyms through which Bible doctrine is classified and categorized. You must learn such vocabulary as Rebound, Faith-Rest, Dispensations, Hypostatic Union, Protocol Plan of God, Portfolio of Invisible Assets, Substitutionary Spiritual Death, Common and Efficacious Grace, Election and Predestination, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
After salvation, the believer is a spiritual baby and must learn a vocabulary in which to think, to express, to apply, to utilize Bible doctrine. There is a direct analogy to how we learn vocabulary as a human child and as a spiritual child. You cannot think without vocabulary. Moses established the fact that the absolutes of Bible doctrine are composed of words. The absolutes of Bible doctrine become spiritual thinking composed of words. (Deuteronomy 8:3)
The Categorical Storage
Categorical storage is the classification of Bible doctrine according to its subject matter. By comparison of Scripture to Scripture, biblical subjects emerge and are brought together into divisions of doctrine, formed for the purpose of classification and utilization. This is illustrated by the mechanics of the spiritual life, the two power options (the filling of the Holy Spirit and Bible doctrine), the three spiritual skills (metabolization, problem solving and the Protocol Plan of God), and the Ten Problem Solving Devices. This is an established system for the function of the spiritual life designed for one thing—to have in your stream of consciousness Bible doctrine circulating through the filling of the Spirit from one compartment to another, so that you will have a treasure in your soul that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 6:19-21.
Vocabulary and categorical storage are absolutely essential for understanding the mechanics of the spiritual life and spiritual advance. Categorical storage is also essential for accurately handling the interpretation of the Word of God. Categorical storage is essential in the interpretation of Scripture, as noted by categories such as dispensations, salvation by faith alone in Christ alone, logistical grace, metabolization of doctrine, spirituality, the Christian Way of Life, etc. (II Timothy 2:15; Proverbs 2:2,10; 18:15)
